Yearbooks are going home today with your child. If they want to have their friends/peers sign their yearbook, please send it back on Tuesday with them. Also, art is being sent home today. Please remember to bring an extra reusable(or plastic) bag on Monday so that the rest of the work can go home Monday and Tuesday. Enjoy your weekend!!!

Tomorrow is the official first day of summer! To celebrate (and to make up for the day we missed the park after the pond), I would love to take the class to the park either on Friday June 22 or Tuesday June 26.
Enjoy the sunshine. Today, Ms. Leanne from the Calgary Public Library came to tell our class about the Ultimate Summer Challenge and other activities happening at the library. There are more than 500 free activities to do this summer. Click HERE to learn more about the challenge and make sure you pick up/download your copy of the map to use in the challenge.

First thing this morning, we watched recorded interview from last week with David Saint-Jacques. He is a Canadian astronaut who will be traveling to the International Space Station (ISS) on December 20, 2018. He took questions from 4 schools across Canada and answered them last Monday. After listening to part of his interview, we learned about what life will be like for David by watching a short clip that Chris Hadfield shared from his his visit to the ISS. He showed us how to brush your teeth and sleep in space! If you want to see more videos about an astronauts life in space, CLICK HERE and check out some of the 50 videos that he shared. The class also continued to work on their projects for the Water Expo. They are becoming experts at using Google Drive. Enjoy the sunshine. Tomorrow is Bike to School Day!!!
Calgary Bike to School Day is Wednesday, June 6. All students are encouraged to bike, scooter and skateboard to school. We’ll be storing everything in the gym and the students can bring their wheels to the gym through the compound doors beginning at 7:55AM. Everyone who’s wheels are in the gym will be dismissed at regular time from the gym compound doors. Lots of bikes and helmets look the same so having labels would be a good idea. Staff will be in the gym and on the compound to keep things organized. We hope hundreds of our students will join the thousands of CBE students who take part on Wednesday. Enjoy the sunshine. June is National Indigenous Peoples Month. Click the link for Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (kids) if you want to watch a show that is produced in a language other than English, for example Cree, Inuktitut, Coast Salish, French, and Mi'kmaq. You can always watch part of one episode so you can hear what another language sounds like and then finish that episode in English.
The class had an incredibly busy day between music, phys. ed., watching the Kindergarten dress rehearsal, and getting up close and personal with some creepy crawlies (turns out they are not so creepy at all). Check out the photos from today, below: Happy Friday!
Yesterday the class had a sub and they wrote a draft blog to share with you today: May 31, 2018 We had a sub today! Ms. Tegler. In Social Studies we wrote about the maritimes in the past using full sentences. We read a book called The Greedy Triangle and learned more about shapes. We read more of Charlotte's Web and wrote about Charlotte and Wilbur as characters. Science was really fun because we got to sort bugs. Today, the class finished up their work so far on their paper bag books and are ready to keep reading. They worked on math on the computers and before we knew it, it was the end of the day! Remember that there is a bug presentation on Monday and to please bring cash or cheque ($7) if you have not yet paid. Enjoy the weekend! Wow, there are only 19 school days left in this year! The grade twos are so busy working away on their water expo projects, as well as the paper bag books, and reviewing Social Studies.
This afternoon, we watched a few video clips on youtube about life in the Maritimes. In case you missed the clam digging video or the "how to" guide to making traditional white wash to paint your Acadian house with. Enjoy your night :) This morning, the students worked on the computers and made great progress on their water expo projects. The class also worked on geometry. They are learning about 2-D shapes and practiced making groups of different shapes and coming up with the rule for that group.
If you have not yet brought money or a cheque ($7) for Monday's bug presentation, please do so as soon as possible. Enjoy your evening. |
